Fashion Show for Aunt Loe
Last month my parents and younger sister went to visit my middle sister, Lauren, in Portland, Oregon. They had a wonderful time and came back with many sweet gifts for Katie. Since we won't get to see Aunt Loe until October we wanted to show her how cute the clothes look on Katie, especially the tutu! Thanks again, Lauren! We miss you a lot!
Just a quick note about some of these pictures- Katie has a little cold so that's why her eyes look a little red and her nose is runny . Also, she's eating a lot of carrots and sweet potatoes these days so that's why her face may have an orange tint :)

Ready for the Major Leagues
My parents are taking us to a Phillies game this week to celebrate Andrew's birthday and Father's Day. So, to get ready, Katie's been brushing up on her baseball skills. She's got quite an arm!

Sorry, Gerber
$1.19 for a 2-pack of Gerber Organic Carrots or $.89 for a pack of organic carrots from Trader Joe's that can make 10 meals? An easy choice for a stay-at-home mom! Since before Katie was born I knew I wanted to make her baby food. Not only is it much more economical, but it's also great to know exactly what is going into the food she eats. And it's fun! Today I made apples, peas, carrots and sweet potatoes. She seems to really enjoy the new tastes. Next up, fresh peaches! Yum!

Splish-Splash
Today Katie took her first "swim"! My wonderful parents bought Katie a baby pool (and an adorable bathing suit and cover-up!) and today was a perfect day for a dip- hot, humid and Aunt Leanne was here to join in the fun! We lathered her up with SPF, filled the pool with warm water and let her go to town. She had a blast hitting the water. I predict we'll spend many summer afternoons in our backyard with Katie splish-splashing around!

7 Months!
Katie is 7 months old today! Words can't express how much we treasure this precious little girl. She is such a joy and a light in our lives. She is sitting up now with no problem and eating lots of yummy homemade solid foods. She can already get up on her knees from her belly so we anticipate that she'll be crawling soon.
I took a few pictures of her this morning and couldn't pick the one I liked best so I'll post all three. She is looking so grown up and beautiful (in our unbiased opinion :) ) these days!

Reading
One of Katie's favorite things to do these days is read. We read to her throughout the day and she always seems to enjoy it. But there is one book that she really seems to enjoy- First 100 Words. Whenever we pull it off the bookshelf she starts smiling, breathing hard and wiggling around. We're not sure why this one has won her affections over all the other great books we have. Perhaps it's that the book is a bunch of pictures, not a cohesive story, and she can follow along better. Or maybe it's all the bright pictures of things she knows, like a bathtub, sippy cup, tree, etc. But the most likely explanation probably has something to do with all the noises her narrators make when we come to the animal pages. We hope her love for reading only grows as she does!
