Katie had a great first Halloween! Our friends, who have a daughter who is one month younger than Katie, had us over for dinner. The little ladybug and the little flower had a great night...but I bet they will enjoy the coming years even more when there is candy involved!

A Fun Trip to Bethlehem
This weekend Katie and I traveled to Bethlehem to see my family. We made the trip especially to see my sister, Lauren, who lives in Portland, Oregon and only comes home a few times a year. She hadn't seen Katie since Christmas, so needless to say, she had changed just a little! We also got to see some sweet friends, the Fletchers (more on them in my next post) and my Grandma, Katie's Great-Grandma, Betsy. Here are some shots of our time. It was great fun to all be together again!

A Very Happy Birthday
This weekend, on 10/10/10, Katie turned 11 months old and I turned 28 years old. It was a beautiful day here in Virginia and we were so blessed to be able to spend it with some of our best friends, Matt and Megan Huffman, Kristin Moore and her son Jon. We all went to lunch together at a great place downtown and then for ice cream at our favorite local ice cream shop, Kline's. Then, on Monday, Katie and I and my sweet friend Sarah and her daughter Ava drove to Charlottesville to meet up with other close friends from our college days. I feel so lucky to have been surrounded by my wonderful family and such special friends on my birthday!

Cave Time
Cave Time is a special time in the Witmer household. This is usually the time right after dinner when I'm cleaning up and Andrew constructs a cave out of blankets and pillows in the living room. This was one of his favorite things to do with his dad and brothers when he was little. Katie is never too sure at first (she's scared of the fringes on the blanket) and always cautiously approaches the opening a few times before going through. Sometimes she needs one of us to pave the way and go first. It's so cute to crawl through and look behind you to see her little, proud face making her way through too! Maybe she'll do this with her children one day!
